Singing competition auditions at campus

WARREN

Rocket to the Stars, the biggest singing competition in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, will have its third audition of the 2013 season Saturday in the classroom administration building at the Kent State-Trumbull campus.

This audition comes on the heels of auditions at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., and the Erie Playhouse in Erie, Pa. Additional auditions are planned for Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Warrendale, Pa., and the State Theater in State College, Pa.

At the conclusion of all five auditions, Rocket to the Stars will select approximately 16 contestants to advance to its May 4 quarterfinals at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Warrendale, Pa. The names will be released April 15 during the Rocket to the Stars podcast RockettotheStars.com.

Twelve contestants will move on from that show and perform again at New Castle’s Scottish Rite Cathedral on May 24. Only six contestants will advance from that show to the finals, which will be July 13 during the Fireworks Festival in New Castle, Pa.

The winner will receive a one-year artist development deal that includes possible studio recording time, private voice lessons, and media and marketing services, and will appear in several shows produced by Rocket to the Stars.
