A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

March 20

Criminal trespassing: Police received a complaint that someone had trespassed on property in the 6700 block of Shawbutte Drive.

BOARDMAN

March 20

Theft: A corner of a license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Harassment: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman said she received an unwanted call.

Theft: Arnold G. Shiflett II, 25, of 88 E. Myrtle Ave., Youngstown, was charged with stealing three Sony PlayStation video-game controllers from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Domestic violence: Riccardo R. Pollo, 51, of 312 Meadowbrook Ave., Boardman, was arrested on a warrant after his wife alleged Pollo had tried to choke her, then made a threat implying further harm to her, during an argument.

Arrest: Acting on a search warrant, police in the 8200 block of Market Street arrested 51-year-old Rana H. Abbas, 6711 West Blvd., Boardman, on six felony counts of illegal use of supplemental-nutrition program benefits after saying receipts indicated Abbas had illegally used six Ohio Direction cards.

Theft: A $600 iPad was taken from a Southern Park Mall business.

Misuse of a credit card: A Waggaman Circle woman noticed four unauthorized charges to her debit card totaling $1,899.

Aggravated menacing: A Cascade Drive man told authorities several neighbors threatened him after having driven an all-terrain vehicle through his yard, and that one of the neighbors retrieved a firearm from his car.

Forgery: An Island Drive man told police that a man to whom the accuser had left a business failed to pay income taxes, leading to the victim’s being defrauded of $12,000 worth of income-tax returns. Also, the Internal Revenue Service provided the accuser with a copy of a document containing a signature he contended had been forged.

Theft: Officers issued a summons to 21-year-old Patrick G. Shamrock charging Shamrock, of 73 Jennette Drive, Boardman, with stealing $97 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road led to the arrest of 21-year-old Latisha M. Henderson, 3620 Southern Blvd., Youngstown, on a warrant charging obstructing official business. Henderson provided a false name to avoid receiving a citation, police said.

Misuse of a credit card: A woman reported her debit card and driver’s license missing from her vehicle while in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road, then later discovered roughly $280 worth of unauthorized charges.

March 21

Burglary: To a residence in the 400 block of West Midlothian Boulevard through a rear door, though nothing appeared to be missing or disturbed.

Theft: A Poland couple discovered a $75 gift card had been stolen as they shopped at a Doral Drive big-box store.

Theft: Christopher J. Vannoy, 22, of 1706 Keefer Road, Girard, was charged in the theft of $67 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Harassment: The owner of a South Avenue hair salon and her business partner told officers a former employee sent several unwanted text messages to them.

Counterfeit: A man in his late 20s tried to pass a phony $10 bill at Taco Bell, 458 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A temporary tag was stolen off a car in the 8400 block of Market Street.

Theft: A woman told police her daughter’s $130 cellphone was taken from the girl’s locker at Boardman Glenwood Middle School, 7635 Glenwood Ave.

Theft: A Boardman-Canfield Road man said an acquaintance borrowed but failed to return his $300 iPhone.

Identity fraud: An Overhill Drive man learned someone had opened two credit-card accounts in his name after the accuser received a $465 bill for a fraudulent transaction from Charlotte, N.C.

Theft: Three women stole about $1,097 worth of merchandise from Babies “R” Us, The Baby Super Store, 1240 Doral Drive.

Arrest: A 12-year-old Poland boy faced a felony charge of disrupting public services after a March 12 situation on a school bus in which he reportedly became disruptive and impaired the driver’s ability to safely operate the vehicle.

March 22

Theft: Austintown police handed to township authorities 48-year-old Lavette Boone, 884 E. Boston Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant. She was accused of stealing two comforters from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Domestic violence: Kenneth L. Hubbard, 32, of 222 Mumford Drive, Youngstown, surrendered on a felony charge after his wife, of Applecrest Court, alleged Hubbard had pushed and thrown her to the ground during an argument. The charge was upgraded because of a previous conviction, police said.

Theft: Police and members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitives Task Force arrested 36-year-old Shannon M. Petrosky-Gregory at her home, 239 E. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, after an employee with a Doral Drive bank noticed her $800 cellphone missing while at work.

Drugs: A suspicious vehicle in the 5500 block of Market Street caught the attention of authorities, who charged Sarah L. Dietz, 29, of 457 Penhale Ave., Campbell, with possession of drug-abuse instruments. Dietz, who also was wanted on a warrant from Warren, admitted having a needle in her purse; in addition, a small bag of suspected heroin and a suspected crack-cocaine pipe were found, a report showed.

March 23

Theft: Nikki L. Sidorchuk of 1422 Thorpe St., New Castle, Pa., was charged. The 30-year-old Sidorchuk was accused of stealing 20 candy bars from Walmart.

Arrest: During a traffic stop, 20-year-old Christina Direnzo of 7391 Bonnie Place, Boardman, was cited on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: Angela M. Orr, 51, and Ricardo R. Wallace, 54, both of 5000 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, were charged with stealing several boxes of condoms from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

March 24

Arrest: While serving a warrant, officers arrested 44-year-old Joseph S. Maderitz at his residence, 8047 Hunting Valley Drive, Boardman, on an assault charge after a Canfield man reported having been punched in the head during an argument with another driver near U.S. Route 224 and Tippecanoe Road.

Theft: A woman stole 10 Sony PlayStation 3 games from Walmart.

Theft: A Youngstown man reported his $300 cellphone stolen while at a McClurg Road business.
