Browns sign Campbell: The Browns added a quarterback, perhaps to compete with Brandon Weeden for the starting, by signing free agent Jason Campbell on Tuesday night. Campbell, 31, was a first-round draft pick (25th overall) of the Washington Redskins in 2005. He has started 71 of 77 career games and completed 1,328 of 2,182 passes (60.9 percent) for 14,682 yards with 76 touchdowns and 52 interceptions. Campbell was traded to Oakland in 2010 and spent two seasons with the Raiders. He signed with the Chicago Bears in 2012 and appeared in six games, starting one, last season. Campbell started 40 games at Auburn from 2001-04.

Dumervil joins Ravens: Three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Elvis Dumervil says he left the Denver Broncos for the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens because he was looking to play for a winner in a different city. Dumervil passed his physical and signed a five-year contract with the Ravens. The 6-foot, 260-pounder was introduced at a news conference in which he said, “Going to a winning organization was important.” He had said nothing bad about his former team. It’s just that he was ready to leave after a fax snafu led to his release from the Broncos. Dumervil says, “I just felt it was a time to change scenery.” The Ravens welcomed him after an offseason in which they lost free agents Ed Reed, Paul Kruger, Dannell Ellerbe and Cary Williams.

Bears sign Hayden: The Chicago Bears agreed to a one-year contract with veteran cornerback Kelvin Hayden. Hayden made two starts and played in 16 games last season for Chicago and led the league with four opponent fumble recoveries. He also recorded 40 tackles and an interception to go with three special-teams stops. The 6-foot, 195-pound Hayden has started 49 of 101 games played for Indianapolis (2005-10), Atlanta (2011) and Chicago (2012). He has 345 tackles, 12 interceptions and three return TDs in his career.

Packers keep Finley: The Green Bay Packers are hanging onto tight end Jermichael Finley. The Packers had to cut the mercurial tight end before 4 p.m. Monday to avoid paying a $3 million roster bonus. After the deadline passed, Finley said on Twitter, “Ecstatic 2 b back w (at)packers. Best place on earth.” Finley set a Packers record for receptions (61) by a tight end last season, and coach Mike McCarthy praised his play in the final weeks. But his inconsistency early, along with his rising price tag, made him appear expendable. After losing tight end Tom Crabtree to Tampa Bay and Greg Jennings to rival Minnesota, however, the Packers couldn’t afford to part ways with Finley.
