Deputy, suspect injured in Ohio crash and shooting

COSHOCTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a central Ohio sheriff’s deputy was injured in a crash during a pursuit that led to another deputy shooting a suspect.

Coshocton County Sheriff Timothy Rogers said one of his deputies was treated at a hospital and released after the Tuesday night crash. The suspect who was subsequently shot sustained life-threatening injuries.

Rogers said the crash was the culmination of a pursuit that started in nearby Muskingum County. He declined to release further details this morning, including the name of the deputy. He said the name of the suspect has yet to be confirmed.

Rogers has asked the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to handle the investigation.

Coshocton is about 75 miles east of Columbus.
