UPDATE: 2 hostages removed by police from South Side home

YOUNGSTOWN — At 1:10 p.m., police were able to remove a child and woman from a Mabel Avenue home who had been held hostage by an unidentified man.

The child appeared to be about 3 years old. Police also escorted the woman from the home in the 600 block of Mabel. They were placed in a nearby police car.

Police continue to look for the man, and continue to keep a perimeter around the house and have blocked off the street.
