City man killed

YOUNGSTOWN

Ashtabula police are investigating the homicide of a 24-year-old Youngstown man in Ashtabula over the weekend.

James Anderson, 24, of Youngstown, was shot multiple times and killed shortly after 6 p.m. Friday in Ashtabula. A 21-year-old Ashtabula man is being held in the shooting.

Events leading up to the shooting are still under investigation.

An autopsy is expected to be completed this week.

Driver identified

ELLSWORTH

The driver killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday on U.S. Route 224 was identified by the Ohio State Highway Patrol as Ryan Basora, 26, of Cuyahoga Falls.

He was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after he lost control of his vehicle and struck another vehicle head-on.

Basora was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla west on Route 224 just west of Duck Creek Road about 8 a.m. when he hit the 2009 Chevrolet truck driven by Thomas Mcloy, 55, of Cambridge, according to the patrol’s Canfield Post.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital, but Mcloy’s condition was not available Monday.

The crash is still under investigation.

Finance chairman Alford L. Novak has called a Warren City Council Finance Committee meeting for 4 p.m. today in the council caucus room at the municipal justice building, 141 South St. SE. During the meeting, the agenda for Wednesday’s council meeting and information from the last finance meeting will be reviewed.
