Bench warrant issued for Lavette Boone

A judge issued a bench warrant for a woman who failed to show up for arraignment Tuesday on a theft charge, the latest in a list of charges dating back to 1983.

Lavette Boone, 48, of Boston Avenue, Youngstown, was scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Tuesday morning on a theft charge. She was picked up on a warrant over the weekend, accused of trying to return merchandise at Target that she hadn’t paid for.

Boone has been charged with numerous theft offenses for years and court records show that bench warrants have been issued for her multiple times when she didn’t show up for court.

Most of her cases stem from the township, but she also has been charged in Austintown, Canfield, Youngstown and other parts of Mahoning County.
