Local teen is finalist for Ohio queen

Amber Affagato, daughter of Ron and Kathy Affagato of Struthers, has been selected as a finalist for Ohio’s 33rd annual Homecoming Queen Selection April 7 at the Dayton Marriott in Dayton, Ohio.

Amber is a Struthers Homecoming Queen.

The winner will receive a cash scholarship and an all expense paid trip to the national finals for America’s Homecoming Queen, Queen Inc., a nonprofit organization promoting education, educational travel and community service in all 50 states.

It is registered with the trademark office in Washington, D.C.

It selects a homecoming queen from each state to participate and is not a beauty pageant, but a kind of ambassadorship.

The winner will represent Ohio at the national selection.

Amber also will be competing for Ohio’s favorite homecoming queen.
