Winter storm watch issued for Valley, region

Some Mahoning Valley residents may see snow during the early portion of this week.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm responsible for the snow in the Plains and the Rockies will make its way to the Mahoning Valley after 11 tonight. Mahoning and Trumbull county residents can expect 2 to 4 inches of possible accumulation. Chance of snow is 90 percent, with highs staying in the upper 30s.

Snow is expected to taper off by midday Monday, after 1 to 3 inches of accumulation, while day temperatures will hover in the mid-30s. Evening temperatures may drop into the upper 20s.

The NWS said a winter storm watch for Mahoning and Trumbull counties will be in effect from this evening until Monday afternoon. The watch is also in effect for Columbiana County in Ohio and Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania. Up to 6 inches of snow is forecast in those counties.
