POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
March 17
Assault: Police responded to a fight in the 100 block of West Liberty Street, where one man reported having been knocked unconscious and suffered minor injuries during the brawl. No charges had been filed at the time of the report, however.
Arrest: Officers who noticed a truck in a ditch off Elruth Road charged 19-year-old Richard K. Rounds III, 335 Iowa Ave., Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired and underage consumption of alcohol.
Arrest: Lisa A. Netroe, 37, of 150 E. Second St., Girard, faced a disorderly-conduct charge after authorities responded to a possible domestic situation at the home. Netroe continued her verbal tirade and refused to calm down, police said.
March 18
Theft: A $5,000 trailer was taken from a lot in the 1000 block of South State Street.
Attempted truck theft: A man in the 10 block of Cherry Street reportedly chased someone who tried to steal his 1979 Chevrolet truck. The vehicle’s steering column was damaged.
March 19
Criminal mischief: A North Ward Avenue man noticed a rock had been used to shatter his vehicle’s driver’s-side window and damage a door handle. The damage estimate was $900.
Criminal mischief: An officer on patrol in Tod Park noticed someone had used white paint to write on the front of a concession stand.
Theft: A book Kindle device and an iPod were removed from a car in the 900 block of Gary Avenue.
Criminal mischief: A vehicle in the 200 block of Louis Circle was found with a smashed rear window.
Criminal damaging: Someone drove through and did $1,000 in damage to a front yard in the 400 block of Powers Avenue.
March 20
Arrest: Police picked up a 17-year-old Girard boy walking near Gary and Stull avenues who was wanted on a drug-possession charge.
LIBERTY
March 16
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 4900 block of Greenbrier Drive led to 32-year-old Ashley W. Taylor’s arrest. Taylor, of 4499 Greenbrier, Girard, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.
Drugs: Officers on Logan Way charged Courtney A. Sims, 30, of 841 Fairfax Ave., Youngstown, with drug abuse and possession of dangerous drugs, as well as 31-year-old Kevin D. Rogers, 103 W. Philadelphia Ave., Youngstown, with drug abuse and driving under suspension. Authorities seized a bag containing 4 grams of suspected marijuana, and multiple loose pills were in Sims’ purse, a report said.
Burglary/criminal damaging: Someone kicked in and damaged the front door to a residence in the 3400 block of Logan Way Avenue, though it appeared nothing was stolen.
Drugs: Police on West Gypsy Lane pulled over Brandon Middleton, 23, of 1309 Wick Ave., Youngstown, and charged him with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after saying Middleton admitted having a small bag of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe. Also taken into custody was JohnathonPupin, also 23, of 44 Abbey St., Girard, on a charge of obstructing official business.
Arrest: Morris T. Evans, 45, of 610 E. Dewey Ave., Youngstown, was arrested during a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue. He was wanted on a probation- violation warrant from the Trumbull County 911 center.
Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop on Monticello Boulevard resulted in the arrest of Tashaun D. Letlow, 22, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia after police said Letlow, of 2260 Coronado Ave., Youngstown, had a device commonly used to grind marijuana that had suspected marijuana residue.
Aggravated menacing: A charge was pending against a 29-year-old Youngstown man after a Walker Circle man alleged he came to the accuser’s residence uninvited and threatened to use a gun to harm him.
Drugs: While dealing with a shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, police charged 29-year-old Richard J. Hall Jr., 977 Sodom-Hutchings Road, Vienna, with one felony count of heroin possession and possession of drug-abuse instruments, a misdemeanor. Two syringes, one containing a solution that tested positive for heroin, were found, a report showed.
Domestic violence: Janet L. Kalan, 58, of 115 Warner Road, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after her daughter alleged Kalan had struck her head and face during an argument. Police found the daughter with a swollen left eye and blood in a corner of her mouth, they said.
Drug paraphernalia: Authorities responded to someone in the 200 block of Goldie Road asking people for money before charging Miranda Zullo of 2419 Elm St., Youngstown, with possession of drug paraphernalia. The 23-year-old Zullo had a suspected marijuana pipe in a drawer in her car, a report said.
Arrest: Authorities picked up Lorin N. Charlton, 32, of 715 E. Dewey Ave., Youngstown, at Youngstown Municipal Court. Charlton was wanted on a domestic-violence warrant.
March 17
Theft: A stove and two refrigerators were missing from two apartments in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive.
Harassment: A Logan Gate Road woman and her mother told police the woman’s former husband has had unwanted contact with them.
March 18
Arrest: After responding to a theft at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., authorities charged 32-year-old Shane M. Tomlin, 2512 Reeves Road, Warren, with one felony count each of assault, tampering with evidence and drug possession as well as one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon after saying Tomlin had tried to swallow several pills to hide evidence and had one pill in a cigarette wrapper. An officer suffered several minor injuries while dealing with Tomlin, a report showed.
Harassment: A Park Circle man said a 17-year-old former acquaintance has made and sent several months’ worth of unwanted and threatening calls and text messages to him.
Identity theft: A Colonial Drive man told police the Internal Revenue Service informed him that someone had electronically filed a fraudulent income-tax return using the victim’s name, Social Security number and address.
Assault: A Frederick Street woman alleged her boyfriend punched her face and shoved her against a vehicle after she apparently accidentally dropped an item belonging to him.
Drugs: Police were called to a dispute at a Belmont Avenue motel, where they charged 24-year-old Lyndon M. Nelson with possession of drug-abuse instruments. Nelson, of 693 Martha Ave., Campbell, had a syringe in an aluminum can and a suspected marijuana cigar, a report showed
