Girls, here's a chance to win an American Girl Doll!

In conjunction with the upcoming American Girl Fashion Show presented by Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, The Vindicator is conducting a writing contest for area girls to enter for a chance to win an American Girl Doll.

ABOUT THE CONTEST

PRIZE: The young participants will have a chance to win their very own Saige doll, which is American Girl’s 2013 Girl of the Year.

HER STORY: American Girl describes Saige Copeland as a young girl who loves both the arts and her horses. When both of these passions are threatened, Saige draws from her creative side to come up with an imaginative solution, proving that one girl can make a difference.

HOW TO ENTER: Local girls 8 to 12 years old are welcome to submit a brief essay using 100 words or fewer. Tell us how you have made a difference in your life by being creative.

• The deadline is Friday, April 5. Entries must include the girl’s name, age, city of residence and telephone number.

• The winner will be notified Monday, April 8, and her winning entry will be printed in The Vindicator and posted online at www.vindy.com on Sunday, April 14.

• Some of the other entries the judges like also will be posted online.

NOTE: Each girl who enters the contest will receive one complimentary ticket to the show of her choice. The girls will be contacted by phone to arrange to receive their tickets.

Where: Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.

Times: 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day.
