Apply by April 24 for scholarships

ORWELL

The Trumbull County Farm Bureau provides scholarships to college students working toward an undergraduate degree.

Applicants must be residents of Trumbull County, and their parents or guardians must be members of the Trumbull County Farm Bureau. Students must be full-time enrollees of any field in a two- or four-year college, university or technical school.

Application deadline is April 24. Applications may be acquired through high school guidance counselors or at the Farm Bureau office at 440-437-8700.

18-year-old voters

WARREN

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted will participate in Democracy Day at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Warren JFK High School.

Democracy Day celebrates the 26th Amendment, which allowed 18-year-olds to vote. Husted hopes this event will help increase the number of 18-year-olds who are registered to vote in Ohio.

Husted is visiting high schools around the state to educate and inform students about the importance of voting with his Grads Vote program.

April 8 is the deadline to register to vote for the May 7 primary. Individuals may register if they will be 18 on or before Election Day.

Local wildlife program Tuesday

Canfield

The Audubon Society/Mahoning Valley is hosting “Wildlife of the Mahoning Valley” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm on state Route 46.

Jim Kerr, curator of the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, will talk about local species of mammals, birds and reptiles. For information, call 888-846-8851.
