Winter storm watch in effect for Mahoning Valley and region Sunday and Monday

VIENNA

A winter storm watch will be in effect from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon for Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in Ohio and for Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service forecasts 2 to 4 inches of snow by midday Monday for Mahoning and Trumbull counties and 4 to 6 inches of snow for Columbiana, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

Highs Sunday will be in the mid-30s with lows in the upper 20s. The greatest likelihood for snow will be late Sunday and early Monday. Additional light snow accumulation is possible through Monday afternoon.

A winter storm watch means conditions are likely for hazardous road surfaces due to snow accumulation.
