Scholastic, Inc. had a variety of books accessories for students to enjoy recently at Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten. The displays of tables and bookshelves with many colorful props were set up in the school’s Play Center turning it into a temporary, yet fun, store for the students.

The 2013 book fair was organized by volunteers, led by Bethany Martinez and Lori Toporcer.

Preview night was on March 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in which students were asked to RSVP with family members so there would be plenty of treats and fruit punch.

Children browsed or sat on the carpet looking at the books, which centered on their age and reading level. In addition, there was a special appearance by Hi5, who not only made creative balloon hats and animals, but also showed the kids magic tricks.

The book fair continued with an opportunity to “Shop with Grandparents” March 7 and March 11.

Students met with their grandparents and spent special time shopping and looking at their new books together. In addition, the Scholastic book fair took place March 12 and 13. They brought wish lists and volunteers helped them to make it a fun shopping experience.
