Canfield soccer club begins registration

Registration for the 2013 summer recreational soccer league will run through April 15 for $90 and must be done online. The summer league runs June 24 to Aug. 2 and is open to all players ages 4-13 in Canfield and the surrounding communities.

The club runs safe, relaxed coed games with sanctioned referees at their home fields at Township Park on Herbert Road. Team and community sign sponsorships are available plus new and improved coaching clinics and training. Visit www.canfieldsoccerclub.org for complete details.

Tressel to speak at HOF banquet

Jim Tressel, former YSU and Ohio State University football coach, will serve as guest speaker at the Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame Banquet on May 5.

There will be 13 inductees at the event held at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center.

Women’s senior event at Amron, April 6-7

The 21st Ladies Senior Singles tournament of the Youngstown-Salem Women’s Bowling Association will be at Amron Lanes, April 6 & 7.

Sessions are scheduled both days at 2 p.m. and also at 11 a.m. on April 7. Cost is $17 per person for the five-division event for those 55 and over.

K.O. Drugs boxing

The K.O. Drugs high school boxing tournament will take place on Mondays in May and June at the Palermo Center in Campbell.

The tournament is open to boys and girls in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Mercer counties.

Hockey tryouts

The Great Lakes Freeze will have an open tryout for all high school age hockey players on April 15, April 17 and April 20 at Kent State University Ice Arena.

This team competes in the North Coast High School Hockey League.
