MCCTC students excel at regional competition

Mahoning County Career and Technical Center Early Childhood Development students Ashley Mayer, Katelyn Halt, Mariah Cuevas and Kellie Streb competed at the Regional FCCLA Competition on March 2 in Akron.

Mayer and Cuevas, both of Austintown, each earned a silver medal in Concept Curriculum Development. Halt (Boardman) received a gold medal in Teacher Resource Kit. Streb (Boardman), along with Cierra Duvall, Taylor Sorrell and Starla Sharp all earned a gold medal for their Junior Early Childhood Team.

Three students in the program earned a chance to compete at the State FCCLA Competition April 18-19. Kayli Dean, Krystal Means and Marissa Edwards will represent MCCTC at the state event. Dean earned a gold medal in the Language and Literacy competition, Means earned a silver medal and Edwards took a bronze in the Toys That Teach competition.

The MCCTC students are led by Early Childhood Education instructor Julie Pagnotta.
