Howland police have robbery suspect

HOWLAND — Township police charged a 22-year-old Vienna man in the Monday night aggravated robbery of the Papa John’s restaurant at 1976 Elm Road NE.

Police Chief Paul Monroe said Robert J. Mealy, 22, of Sunnydale Drive, was arrested at his home Tuesday. Using a search warrant for the car and home, police found items involved in the robbery, Monroe said.

The robber brandished a handgun at 8:50 p.m., ordered the lone restaurant employee to the back, threatened to kill him, and took about $400 from the cash register, Monroe said.
