Poland librarian Amanda Kollar hosted a story time and play date for children aged 6-24 months in the library’s children’s room Feb. 27.

Kollar began the story time with a song about frogs and encouraged children to jump and act like frogs at certain points in the song. Next, they did an activity called “Play, Baby, Play,” which discussed all of the different things that one baby did throughout her day. This activity allowed children to explore different actions and activities with their parents, such as trying on hats, that they might not have done before.

Kollar also led parents in several classic participation rhymes using a doll to mimic the actions of the child. Children laughed, bounced, and clapped through “The Noble Duke of York,” “Ring Around the Rosey,” “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear,” “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” and “If You’re Happy and You Know It.”

The Baby Brilliant story times are offered every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Poland library. Visit www.libraryvisit.org to learn more about this and other library programs.
