Trumbull's Aldridge, Oliver irst-team All-Ohio selections

Two Trumbull County boys basketball players — Peyton Aldridge of LaBrae and Chad Oliver of Bristol — have been named to the Associated Press All-Ohio first team.

Aldridge, a 6-foot-7 junior who has led the Vikings (24-3) to a berth in the state semifinals, earned the honor in Division III. He averaged 19.8 points per game, 11.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

Oliver, a 6-foot senior, was named in Division IV. He led the Panthers to a 24-1 record, including an undefeated regular season. He averaged 24.7 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.1 steals.

Both were named Player of the Year in the Northeast Inland District, Aldridge for the second time.

Brookfield’s Jeremy Quinlan, a 6-3 senior who averaged 23 points, was a second team All-Ohio choice in Division III. He paced the Warriors to a 21-4 season.

Third team choices from area schools include seniors Ryan Strollo of Ursuline and Austen Reiser of East Palestine, both in Division III, and senior forward Daylen Williams of Youngstown Christian in Division IV.

Strollo led Ursuline to the Howland district title game, and Williams helped YCS win the Struthers district and advance to the regional championship game.

Matt Seitz of McDonald and Nate Scott of Wellsville, whose teams tied for the ITCL Tier Two title, were named special mention in Division IV, along with Nick Ballone of Lowellville.

Honorable mention selections in Division III were Craig Randall of Girard and Eoghan Bees of Springfield. Division IV honorable mention includes Stephen Politano of McDonald, Glen Hoffman of Heartland Christian, Brandon Lee of Bristol and Luke Griffith of Southern.

Statewide players of the year in Division III are Kevin Johnson of Cincinnati Summit Country Day, Isaac McGlone of Carroll Bloom-Carroll and John Davis III of Beachwood.

Coaches of the year are Jim Linder of Wayne Trace, Brian Terrill of Richwood North Union and Brian Neal of St. Bernard Roger Bacon.

In Division IV, players of the year are Zach Garber of Vanlue and Jett Speelman of Newark Catholic. Coaches of the year are Michael Bates of Columbus Africentric, Josh Sagester of New Madison Tri-Village; and Eric Rosenbeck of St. Henry.
