Suit will proceed against filmmaker

GREENBELT, Md.

A federal judge has denied a motion to dismiss a copyright infringement suit against the makers of the movie “Avatar.” Judge Roger Titus of U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Maryland, on Monday denied a motion filed by defendants Lightstorm, film director James Cameron and 20th Century Fox to dismiss Bryant Moore’s two-count copyright complaint. The court has placed Moore’s case on the discovery calendar. Moore, of Maryland, wrote two scripts that he claims contain too many similarities to “Avatar” to be a coincidence. His agent is Linda Weaver of Boardman. Donald M. Temple, Moore’s Washington-based attorney, said he is cautiously optimistic about what he says promises to be “a more arduous David and Goliath battle.”
