Ohio ex-coach, teacher gets prison for sex crimes

OTTAWA, Ohio (AP) — A former northwest Ohio teacher and coach has been sentenced to 10 1/2 years in prison for sex crimes involving students.

A jury found 42-year-old Jeremy Stober guilty in February of sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and importuning. The former Kalida High School teacher and volleyball coach was sentenced Monday in Putnam County.

Prosecutors say he had sex with one girl and touched several others inappropriately. They say he was known as “Creeper” among the girls.

Stober denied the allegations. Judge Randall Basinger admonished Stober for abusing his school position, noting that he’s shown no remorse and taken no responsibility for his actions.

A prosecutor said Stober still faces a charge of trying to solicit a fellow jail inmate to persuade the victims to change their stories.
