Northside Medical Center nurses on picket line

YOUNGSTOWN — Nurses from ValleyCare Northside Medical Center are on the picket line today, saying their are being unfairly treated by the hospital's owner Community Health Systems.

The nurses, represented by the American Federation of Teachers Healthcare union affiliated with the Ohio Nurses Association, had the informational picket as part of a new campaign against Tennessee-based CHS, which also owns two other local hospital and more nationwide.

The union says they have gone without raises for the last seven years and were recently offered a new contract that would include lower wages and decreased benefits.
