Magistrate doubles bond for mother of slain Struthers boy

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County Common Pleas Court magistrate has doubled the bond for a Struthers woman charged with involuntary manslaughter in the January beating death of 14-year-old Teddy Foltz.

Magistrate Daniel Dascenzo increased Shain Widdersheim’s bond from $100,000 to $200,000 at her arraignment today, at which she entered an innocent plea. Dascenzo appointed Douglas King as her defense lawyer.

The lower bond had been set in February in Struthers Municipal Court, where Widdersheim was only charged with a single count of child endangering.

Besides the manslaughter, Widdersheim, 32, of Creed Street, was charged in an indictment earlier this month with four counts of child endangering and one count of obstructing justice.

Widdersheim’s case was assigned to Judge R. Scott Krichbaum, who has already been assigned the case of her former boyfriend and co-defendant, Zaryl G. Bush, 43, also of Creed Street, Struthers.

Bush, who prosecutors allege fatally beat Teddy, has also pleaded innocent and is jailed under a $1 million bond.
