McDonald students locked in for Warren shelter

McDONALD

Nearly 150 students are spending tonight in the high school gym and auditorium in an effort to raise $1,000 for the Warren Family Mission.

Jody Conway, advisor of the high school’s volunteer program, said students are to stay at the school until 7 Sunday morning. All the donated money is going toward a new facility the mission is building, she said.

Students started raising money a couple months ago after a member of the mission spoke to them. She said area restaurants such as Chipotle in Austintown and Margherita’s Grille in Girard made food donations to make the evening possible.

“It’s just really nice to do something and have the kids excited to do something that will benefit the community,” Conway said.
