Struthers

The Struthers Foundation for Educational Excellence inducted former Struthers School Superintendent Sandra J. DiBacco and the late Robert J. Canter Sr., former Struthers Middle School principal, into the 2013 Hall of Fame.

The honor is given to individuals who have been involved in the Struthers School District, have gone out of their way to make a significant difference in the lives of others and have been role models for youths.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization governed by a board of directors and formed to support and expand educational opportunities for all Struthers City School students.

Its mission is to identify and provide funding for educational programs that go beyond the responsibility of the school board and resources available to the school system.

A dinner honoring the inductees will take place at 6:30 p.m. April 25 at the Embassy, 5030 Youngstown-Poland Road.

Michael Garvey, president of M-7 Technologies in Youngstown, will be the keynote speaker, and the high school jazz band will provide entertainment.

Tickets for the event are $40 per person and may be obtained by contacting foundation President John Sveda at 330-755-9093.
