Stadium Drive Elementary School gave its annual spring book fair a twist on Feb. 8, offering a contest called Brainy Books the week before the book fair.

Principal Jim Goske read a quote from a book over the sound system and students were given the opportunity to guess the title of the book the quote came from. Students who guessed correctly had their names placed in a drawing. Students whose names were pulled at the end of the week got to go to the book fair for a free book.

“The kids are always excited for each book fair,” said the PTA chair for the book fair, Carmelena Fleet. “Now they are even more excited for the book fair to come. They get to see so many books at the book fair and the Brainy Books program allows students to pick one to take home.”

Fleet also said there has been a great reaction from the students to the Brainy Books program. Students were excited to have the chance to win a free book.

“Even though this has been the first time we put these programs together, it seems to have worked out great. We are probably going to do it again, but we are going to take a teacher-poll to see,” said Fleet.
