Pedestrian Byron R. Thompson, 41, of Willard Avenue, Warren, was killed in a 3:54 a.m. accident on Youngstown Road just east of Wabash Avenue in McKinley Heights on Thursday.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Thompson entered the roadway in front of a vehicle driven by Phillip D. Hill Jr., 48, of Barberton, and was struck. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hill, who was not injured, was driving a 2004 Chrysler Town & Country minivan east on Youngstown Road.
Fire investigated

Firefighters still are investigating a house fire that occurred Wednesday night.
Crews responded to a residential fire in the 100 block of Tremble Avenue shortly after 8:30 p.m.
Capt. Gene Skelley said the resident living at the home was not present when the fire started, and a neighbor called emergency services. He said the damage is estimated at $9,000, with most of it on the first floor. Skelley said 16 firefighters and three engines were used to contain the blaze by 11:30 p.m. No one was injured.
Mayors for Meals
Youngstown
Meals on Wheels of John Knox Church, 1806 Market St., will host “Mayors for Meals Day” on Wednesday as part of its March for Meals campaign. Youngstown chief of staff DeMaine Kitchen and Struthers Mayor Terry Stocker will be participating in the event to show their support for our community’s homebound and hungry seniors.
Casey Malone from the “Casey Malone Show” will showcase the event. March for Meals is a national campaign initiated by the Meals on Wheels Association of America, which seeks to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community. Mayors for Meals Day uses the involvement of local mayors and other local elected officials.

Officials at Poland Riverside Cemetery, 110 Riverside Drive, request that all Christmas decorations be removed by April 1.
