Screening canceled

The screening of “Honor Flight the Movie,” scheduled for Wednesday at Cinemark Tinseltown Theatre, is canceled because not enough tickets were sold to support the event. Individuals who did reserve tickets will not be charged for their orders, according to North Coast WAVES Unit 21 and AMVETS Post 44, sponsors of the event.
Man killed in crash
RAVENNA
A Youngstown man is dead after a two-car crash in Ravenna Township on Wednesday morning.
Lawrence Santangelo, 52, was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital shortly before 7 a.m. where he was pronounced dead after his 1997 Pontiac Sunfire collided with a Ford Explorer driven by a 21-year-old Mantua man.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Santangelo was traveling on state Route 14 when the truck driven by Anthony Rodriguez crossed into oncoming traffic and hit Santangelo’s car. The patrol had no word on Rodriguez’s condition as of late Wednesday.

Fair housing
YOUNGSTOWN
Northeast Ohio Sustainable Communities Consortium will have public meetings today in Warren and Youngstown to discuss preliminary findings of a study evaluating fair housing in 12 counties in the northeast portion of the state.
The organization will hear from those in the community about ways in improve fair housing choices. Federal fair housing laws prohibit discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or familial status. The first event is at 2:30 p.m. at the Wean Foundation’s Western Reserve Room at 147 W. Market St. in Warren.
The Youngstown event is at 6:30 p.m. at the Covelli Centre’s community room at 229 E. Front St.
Road closing
NEW SPRINGFIELD
Mahoning County Engineer’s office said Springfield Road between East South Range Road and state Route 165 in Springfield Township closes today for a culvert replacement. The road is expected to reopen March 22. Traffic will be detoured along East South Range to Route 165.
Training class
WARREN
Applications are available for the Warren Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Awareness Academy Training class, which begins April 10 and runs for eight consecutive weeks.
City residents can obtain an application from the city’s website, www.warren.org, or by stopping by the Warren Police Department, 141 South St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants receive an overview of police policies and procedures, tour the county jail, ride along with police officers, get training on use of deadly force in simulated scenario, and get talks by city and police officials.
The training also covers a community-safety initiative for those interested in neighborhood watches. The department has run the academy since fall 2011.
