Vindy most-wanted capture case sent to grand jury

BOARDMAN

A Youngstown man who was on The Vindicator’s “Top 5 Most Wanted” page had his burglary case bound over to grand jury Tuesday.

Jason Sitnic, 27, appeared in Mahoning County Court. He was listed on the weekly “Most Wanted” page at the time he was accused of shoplifting in Walmart in January. The loss- prevention officer recognized Sitnic from the list, which he and other employees checked online before calling Boardman police.

Sitnic was wanted by U.S. Marshals on warrants for burglary from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and for violating his probation in Franklin County.

Police came to the store and after officers asked him his name, he attempted to flee from police. When police caught and interviewed Sitnic, a stolen credit card was found, reports state.

Sitnic was charged with the warrants, along with obstructing official business, receiving stolen property and misuse of a credit card. With those felony charges, he also faces the misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.

Sitnic remains in the Mahoning County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
