Cardinals have chosen a Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, 76, as the new pope.

White smoke has appeared at the Vatican in Rome, signifying selection of a new pope.

He is the first pope from South America. He is from Bueno Aires, Argentina. He is expected to select the name Pope Francis.
