LISBON

Lisbon Alumni Association is announcing three nominees selected for induction into the Lisbon Alumni Association Hall of Fame for the Class of 2013. They are Barry James, Dr. Bradley Lisko and Thomas McKenna.

They will be honored at a dinner April 27 at s Salem Golf Club, 1967 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem. A social time begins at 6 p.m., and dinner will be at 6:30. There will be a cash bar.

Cost is $28 per person, and reservations are due by April 20.

James is a member of the Class of 1956 and a lifelong resident of Lisbon. He taught eighth-grade history, was a guidance counselor at the high school, a junior high sports coach and varsity basketball coach.

He has been a member and chairman of the Lisbon Cemetery Board for many years, and collaborated with Lisbon Historical Society and Lisbon Community Chorus to provide historical walking tours and patriotic musical programs to support cemetery projects.

James earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Kent State University and completed his master’s degree in guidance.

He served as a high school and collegiate track and field official.

He was selected as a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar, was inducted into the Lisbon Athletic Hall of Fame as a coach and athletic director and received the William S. Frew Citizen of the Year Award from the Morning Journal.

Dr. Lisko was co-valedictorian of the Class of 1983, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Bowling Green State University and received his doctor of medicine degree from Ohio State University.

He completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at OSU Medical Center and Columbus Children’s Hospital and is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics.

He is owner of Polaris Parkway Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in Westerville, Ohio, and has been appointed clinical assistant professor in pediatrics at OSU where he teaches.

During college he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and was a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta. He was a Chester Summer Scholar at Metro General Hospital in Cleveland.

McKenna, Class of 1947, is a professional actor, artist, musician, vocalist, playwright and director. He, with friend and actress, Jean Stapleton, have participated in 40 plays together. He worked at the Totem Pole Playhouse in Pennsylvania Tadpole Players in the Mid-East region for 15 years. He published 19 children’s plays. He is a life-member of the Actors Guild. He was also recognized by the International Society of Poets.

He has served as president of Lisbon Historical Society and as a representative of the society to the Lisbon Chamber of Commerce and the Johnny Appleseed Festival.

He developed the Lisbon Community Chorus, is a member of Lisbon Music Study Club and has served as church organist and choir director for St. George Catholic Church in Lisbon, Struthers Lutheran Church, as well as other churches in the area and in Boston. He is a life member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.

He attended Bowling Green and Marquette University, then transferred to Duquesne University to study opera. He completed his professional acting in Boston and New York. He is a U.S. Army veteran.
