Dominion East Ohio on Monday awarded $20,000 in grants to three of Youngstown’s leading community-driven organizations, including the Youngstown Business Incubator, which received $10,000 for winning one of 12 Community Impact Awards.
In all, Dominion distributed $110,000 in grant money to organizations making a difference throughout Ohio. The impact awards were sponsored in part by Inside Business magazine.
YBI received the award for generating millions in salaries, expenditures and local tax payments throughout the Mahoning Valley.
The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. received $5,000 for its Paint Youngstown program, which has helped increase homeowner investment and improved the city’s appearance, according to Dominion.
Youngstown CityScape Inc. also received $5,000 for spearheading a revitalization effort at Wick Park on the city’s North Side.
The 18th annual Community Impact Awards were selected from more than 90 entries. A panel of community judges selected the winners, recognizing the contributions each organization has made through its work.
