Canfield’s Mangapora named first team All-Ohio

Canfield senior Sabrina Mangapora, who helped the Cardinals to league and district titles, was named first team All-Ohio in Division II by the Associated Press on Monday.

Mangapora averaged 18.5 points per game this season for Canfield, which won the All-American Conference American Division and lost to four-time defending state champion Hathaway Brown in the regional final. Mangapora, the Vindicator’s volleyball player of the year, is headed to Ball State on a volleyball scholarship.

Lakeview junior Alli Pavlik earned third team honors after averaging 24.1 points per game for the Bulldogs, who won the AAC’s National Division.

West Branch’s Melinda Trimmer was named special mention All-Ohio while Poland’s Aleah Hughes, West Branch’s Pavin Heath and Struthers’ McKenna Shives were named honorable mention.

Amanda Cahill of Clyde and Vanessa Smith of Hathaway Brown shared player of the year honors while Bellevue’s Ryan Orshoski and Millersburg West Holmes’ Lisa Patterson were co-coaches of the year.

In Division I, Fitch junior Megan Sefcik was named special mention All-Ohio.

Twinsburg senior Ashley Morrissette was named player of the year while Twinsburg’s Julie Solis, Perrysburg’s Todd Sims and Solon’s Trish Kruse shared coach of the year honors.

Divisions III-IV will be announced today.
