The downtown Youngstown arena has had a hockey team play its home games there since it opened in 2005. Here are the average home-game attendance figures for each season for the teams that played there and where they ranked among other teams in their leagues. The attendance figures are provided by the leagues. Covelli Centre officials say the number of people who show up for the games is lower.
2005-06: 4,067, Youngstown SteelHounds, Central Hockey League, 10th out of 15 teams.
2006-07: 3,610, SteelHounds, CHL, 11th out of 17 teams.
2007-08: 3,333, SteelHounds, CHL, 10th out of 17 teams.
2008-09: 1,379, Mahoning Valley Phantoms, North American Hockey League, fifth out of 19 teams.
2009-10: 1,794, Youngstown Phantoms, United States Hockey League, 12th out of 14 teams.
2010-11: 1,878, Youngstown Phantoms, USHL, 14th out of 16 teams.
2011-12: 1,609, Youngstown Phantoms, USHL, 14th out of 16 teams.
2012-13 (as of today): 1,354, Youngstown Phantoms, USHL, 15th out of 16 teams.
