Want to be a weather-spotter? Take this training
AUSTINTOWN
Mahoning County Skywarn, a volunteer organization of weather spotters, will host a free training session for the public on how to recognize approaching storms and tornadoes.
The training will be at 6 p.m. March 20 in Fitch High School auditorium. Gary Garnet, warning coordinator meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Cleveland, will be the instructor.
Sign-in begins at 5:30 p.m.
Austintown schools’ new Falcon Mobile Medical Unit will be there from 5 to 6 p.m. The 39-foot vehicle contains two fully equipped medical examination rooms and reception area. It was purchased with a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Family Services.
