Warren police are investigating two felonious assaults from Wednesday.

In the first, a 17-year-old Bane Street Southwest boy is in stable condition in ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a 23-year-old man stabbed him in the neck Wednesday afternoon, reports say.

Police said a second victim, a 55-year-old Prospect Avenue Northwest man, went to St. Joseph Health Center with bruises. Police say the suspect beat on him as he tried to tend to the victim’s stab wound.

Police said a fight preceded the stabbing, which was reported at 2:58 p.m. Wednesday at 837 Prospect Ave. NW.

Police said they found the stabbing victim in an apartment at 837 Prospect, close to the residence of the man charged in the crime, James Fudge, 23, of 824 Prospect.

Fudge, who is in the Trumbull County Jail, will be arraigned today in Warren Municipal Court on two counts of felonious assault. Police said they located Fudge in the front yard at 837 Prospect.

In the second case, John Reed, 44, of 239 Ohio Ave. was arraigned in Warren Municipal Court on Thursday on charges of felonious assault and misdemeanor unlawful restraint after a 36-year-old Bristolville woman reported that Reed pistol-whipped her and held her against her will.

The woman said the incident happened at Reed’s home at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. She eventually escaped to a nearby house.

The woman, Jeannie M. Gurich, also was charged with misdemeanor possessing drug paraphernalia after police found syringes inside her car.

She was released on a personal recognizance bond, meaning she didn’t have to pay anything, after pleading innocent to the charge Thursday.
