Poland Union Elementary School received a visit and a dance party from Radio Disney and Anthem BlueCross BlueShield Feb. 21 for winning the Get Active, Get Fit challenge. The Get Active, Get Fit challenge was designed to help children want to get up and play instead of leading a sedentary lifestyle.
“The president of our Ohio branch is very interested in keeping children healthy and fit,” said Anthem BlueCross BlueShield representative Mary Swantek. “With that in mind, who better to partner with than Radio Disney? Dancing, both at these dance parties and on their own, is one of the best ways children can keep healthy. And we are proud to say that this year, three-quarters of a million children participated in the Get Active, Get Fit challenge.”
Prior to the dance party, Radio Disney and Anthem BlueCross BlueSheild awarded Union Elementary School its banner displaying its accomplishment in winning the challenge. Mike Masucci, the principal at Union, accepted the banner and received congratulations on behalf of the student body and the school for the hard work it took to win the challenge.
The dance party began with students joining in as Radio Disney played “Call Me Maybe” by Carlee Ray Jepsen. What followed was an hour of fun activities and dancing, including a hula hoop contest, a teacher dance-off and water bottle giveaways from Anthem BlueCross BlueShield.
