POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent police activity in Girard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Feb. 28

Theft: A woman reportedly pumped $32.66 worth of gasoline and left a McQuaid’s station, 307 S. State St., without paying.

March 1

Theft: A Sony PlayStation 3 console and a PlayStation video game were stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of North Highland Avenue.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed a brick through a front window of a home in the 400 block of Parkview Avenue.

March 2

Criminal damaging: Eggs were thrown at a residence in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue, resulting in a broken window and a $200 damage estimate.

Summons: Police issued a summons charging 19-year-old Rachel L. Clifford of Walnut Street, Girard, with contributing to the delinquency of minors after saying three juveniles were in her car about 1 a.m., in violation of the city’s curfew law.

March 3

Arrest: Officers responding to a loud-noise complaint in the 700 block of Church Hill Road took into custody 39-year-old Ronald A. Fellows, 125 Laurel Ave., Youngstown. He was wanted on warrants from Girard Municipal Court accusing him of failing to appear on charges of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.

March 4

Arrest: Authorities responded to a possible drug overdose in the 200 block of Dearborn Avenue before charging Stanley L. Palmer, 23, of Mineral Ridge with disorderly conduct. Palmer was found passed out in a vehicle, a report showed.

LIBERTY

Feb. 27

Domestic violence: A 14-year-old Girard boy was charged with the crime as police dealt with a report of an unruly juvenile and his stepfather alleged the teen had kicked him several times in the legs.

Robbery: A Girard man at a Belmont Avenue bank’s automated-teller machine told authorities two men, one with a firearm, demanded the victim give them $500. After saying he did not have that amount, the victim gave the gunman $100 and a cellphone before the men fled in a vehicle.

Pursuit: Officers talked to a man who had walked in the middle of Logangate Drive before he led them on a foot chase.

Feb. 28

Drugs: A traffic stop on state Route 193 resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Michael R. Martinez, 63 Hazeltine Ave., Youngstown, on a felony marijuana-possession charge. Martinez, who also was wanted on two felony warrants from Columbiana County, had a bag containing 230 grams of suspected marijuana, a report said.

Theft: Teon M. Thompson, 18, of 19 Orchard Ave., Liberty, was charged with stealing $7 worth of candy from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.

Drugs: Keith Black, 51, of 450 Carlotta Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of marijuana possession and driving under suspension, and Patricia L. Denson, 50, of 24 W. LaClede Ave., Youngstown, was charged with possession of dangerous drugs during a traffic stop on state Route 193. Found were a suspected marijuana cigar, as well as 15 tablets in Denson’s purse, police said.

Stolen property: Authorities charged 40-year-old Jeffrey L. Shugart, 89 Rutledge Ave., Youngstown, with receiving stolen property after an employee with Cleveland Auto Wrecking Inc., 2700 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, alleged Shugart had tried to sell a stolen manhole cover for scrap. Three covers were found in a large metal cabinet, a report showed.

March 1

Burglary: To a residence in the 300 block of Colonial Drive after someone pried open a side door. A 60-inch flat-screen TV, a surround-sound system and other items were taken, for a $3,050 loss.

Drugs/stolen property: Officers in the 1400 block of Pleasant Valley Road charged Amanda J. Prindle, 29, of 122 Amy Place, Cortland, with receiving stolen property and possession of drug-abuse instruments after saying she had a spoon with suspected heroin residue and property that had been stolen during a Cortland burglary. Also arrested was Eric R. Lohr, 30, of 1449 Tripodi Circle, Niles, on charges of receiving stolen property and falsification. Lohr, who also was wanted on warrants from Warren, provided a false Social Security number and date of birth, authorities said.

Arrest: While responding to a shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, police took custody of 46-year-old Lonnie Jackson Jr. Jackson, of 443 W. Judson Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on two felony warrants from Okaloosa County, Fla., related to conditions of probation.

March 2

Identity fraud: A Mansell Drive woman learned someone had used her personal information to file a fraudulent income-tax return.

Felonious assault: A Youngstown man in the 3000 block of Northgate Drive alleged a former friend had twice tried to run him over with a vehicle.

Recovered property: A Youngstown woman’s debit card was found in a Belmont Avenue bank’s ATM.

Arrest: A Youngstown boy, 17, was taken into custody after police pulled him over near Logan Way and discovered he was wanted on warrants charging him with assault and domestic violence.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to 31-year-old Andres Dehostos’ arrest. Dehostos, of 64 W. Florida Ave., Youngstown, was charged with driving under suspension and was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.

March 3

Felonious assault/criminal damaging: Elwood E. Blair, 53, was arrested at his residence, 1182 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, on charges of felonious assault and criminal damaging after a neighbor alleged Blair, during an argument, struck his face with a hand weapon consisting of two sticks and a chain, then cut the accuser’s cable wires.

Arrest: Officers responding to two people detained at Walmart after a shoplifting situation charged Dashawnta A. Tarver of 506 Lee Ave., Youngstown, with falsification and obstructing official business after saying Tarver, 30, gave them a phony name and Social Security number.

Harassment: A Stull Avenue man said a Warren woman sent him two unwanted text messages.

Drugs: Gary Offerdahl of 2230 Elm St., Youngstown, was issued a summons after having been pulled over on Fifth Avenue. The 21-year-old Offerdahl was charged with marijuana possession when, police said, he had a bag of suspected marijuana and papers commonly used to roll marijuana.
