Making family history

YOUNGSTOWN

Do you want to know more about your family history? Where they came from? How they got here? If these and other such questions intrigue you, the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor is sponsoring two workshops, March 16, that may help provide the answers.

At 10 a.m., “Capturing Your Family’s Oral History,” presented by Donna DeBlasio, YSU professor of history, will help participants plan and record oral-history stories of family members and friends. Learn how to identify individuals with stories to share, frame questions, guide the conversation, and document work.

At 1 p.m. “Your Immigrant Ancestors,” presented by DeBlasio and Martha Pallante, YSU professor of history, will look at the ethnic neighborhoods that shaped the community and continue to do so decades later.

The cost is $10 per person per workshop. For more information or to make reservations, call 330-941-1314 or 330-941-1433. The Youngstown Historical Center, known as the Steel Museum, is at 151 W. Wood St., in downtown Youngstown.

Pizza driver robbed

WARREN

A pizza-delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint in a residential area just north of downtown late in the evening.

At 10:48 p.m. Monday, a 38-year-old driver for Domino’s Pizza reported he walked up to the back of the residence at 229 Porter St. Northeast with pizza and wings that had been ordered, saw a male and female on the porch and asked if they had ordered pizza. They both nodded yes, then a third person, a male, stuck a pistol in his back and ordered him to lay on the ground and give him money.

The driver handed the armed man money, and the two people on the porch took the food, and all three ran through the yards. Value of the food, cash and food warmer was about $70.
