Lease talks with Halcon to continue
Staff report
LORDSTOWN
The Lordstown Regional Landowners Group will have a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the United Auto Workers union hall, 2121 Salt Springs Road, to continue negotiating oil and gas leases with Halcon Resources Corp.
Since Halcon first bought about 31,000 acres in Mahoning and Trumbull counties last summer, including deep mineral rights on acreage owned by NCL Appalachian Partners, L.P., to develop oil and gas resources in the area, the landowners’ group has banded together to renegotiate both lease amendments and new leases with Houston-based Halcon.
The group’s membership represents about 6,000 acres of Halcon’s purchase. In addition to Thursday’s round of negotiations with Halcon, the meeting will allow for new landowners with a stake in the proceedings to sign up for membership in the group. Anyone with an NCL lease is encouraged to attend and learn more.
