Mark Kelly to testify for Colo. gun-control bill
DENVER (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ husband, Mark Kelly, is scheduled to testify today in support of at least one of the seven gun-control bills before the Colorado Legislature in Denver.
Kelly is at a the Capitol for a news conference before the bills are heard and will speak in support of a bill that requires background checks for all gun sales.
The retired Navy captain and astronaut has testified before Congress in support of gun-control measures. Giffords is a former Democratic congresswoman from Arizona who was shot in the head two years ago while meeting with constituents.
The Colorado Senate has set aside extra time and extra rooms for the hearings, which are expected to last late into the night and draw large crowds.
