Chris Garbrick, a certified public accountant and principal at Schroedel, Scullin & Bestic of Canfield, has been awarded recognition as a certified minerals manager by the National Association of Royalty Owners. The CMM program is designed to equip professionals with the information, skills and expertise needed to deal with the complex problems and issues that arise from oil and gas management.

David A. Maxwell of the Bury Financial Group in Poland has been named to the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals boardSFlbas its membership chair. Maxwell joined Bury Financial as an adviser in April. He is vice president of a local chapter of Business Network International. Maxwell is a 2011 graduate of Youngstown State University, where he majored in finance. He grew up in North Lima and attended South Range High School.

FirstEnergy Corp. has named Jon Taylor the company’s vice president, controller and chief accounting officer, effective on May 1. In his new role, Taylor will have responsibility for the accounting, tax and financial- reporting activities of FirstEnergy and its subsidiaries. He will report to James F. Pearson, senior vice president and chief financial officer. Taylor began his career with FirstEnergy in 2009 as manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting. He had served as vice president and assistant controller at FirstEnergy.

Don Pitzer has joined Autumn Hills Care Center as executive chef. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Pitzer brings more than 20 years of culinary skills and experience to the center. Autumn Hills Care Center is one of the Vista Care Centers, a local family-owned and operated company with facilities in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
