Charlotte scored four runs in the first inning and added the final four runs of the game to defeat the Youngstown State baseball team 9-3 on Friday.

Junior third baseman Drew Dosch homered and drove in all three runs for Youngstown State, which shaved the 4-0 deficit to 5-3 through six innings.

The 49ers extended their lead to 8-3 in the seventh and added an insurance run in the eighth.

Both Dosch and Mike Accardi were 2-for-4, but the rest of the Penguins line-up combined to go hitless in 22 at bats.

YSU starter Patrick O’Brien settled down after the rocky first inning and kept the Penguins in the game.

AP sources: Flacco agrees to Ravens deal

Joe Flacco is staying in Baltimore.

The Super Bowl MVP quarterback agreed Friday to a new contact with the Ravens, two people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

Terms were not immediately available, but Flacco was expected to get a long-term contract close to the $20 million average salary Drew Brees earns with New Orleans.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement has not officially been announced.

Flacco played out his rookie contract last season for $6.76 million and led Baltimore to the NFL championship.

The 28-year-old Flacco is the only quarterback to win a postseason game in each of his first five pro seasons.
