Niles man sentenced in vandalism spree

Michael Butler, 20, of Robbins Avenue, Niles, has been sentenced to six months in the Trumbull County jail and ordered to pay restitution for a vandalism spree he and another man participated in at Niles McKinley High School.
He was sentenced Wed- nesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Butler will have to pay restitution of $3,500 plus an undetermined amount to victims of the crime. He also was ordered to complete a substance-abuse program at the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program on Pine Avenue and ordered to serve five years’ probation.
He and Joseph A. Barrickman II, 20, of Woodside Lane, Warren Township, used a tractor to smash several construction trailers at 616 Dragon Drive, then damaged a vacant home at 134 Woodland Ave, a football scoreboard, a chain-link fence and a swimming pool. The incident was in March 2012.
Barrickman has pleaded guilty to similar charges and awaits sentencing.
