Twice a month on Tuesdays in the Austintown library’s large meeting room, teens in grades 7-12 are invited to hang out, play games and chat.

The most recent Playstation day was Feb. 19. Several teens came to take advantage of the session, which was founded by librarian Cindy Beach.

“I came up with the idea of the PS2sday because it occurred to me that the library is practically on campus with all of these schools and we wanted to offer them somewhere to go after school,” said Beach. “Not all of them come to play, although we do offer the Playstation and I set up board games of some kind. But they talk and drink and snack. It’s a little freer than hanging out in the main part of the library.”

Beach said she is thinking of offering the event every Tuesday, instead of twice a month. Several of the teens were excited about having the meeting room to themselves after school every week.

“I come to this event every week that I possibly36 can,” said Matt Wood, a teen at the event. “Every week that I can be here, I will be. I usually come to play the Playstation games, like Burnout 3, but I also like to talk and just be with my friends.”
