The Cafaro Foundation has donated $500,000 to Ursuline High School.

Part of the grant money will be used to help worthy students afford tuition through Ursuline’s Adopt-A-Student scholarship program. The rest will go to capital projects, such as installing new advanced technology, renovating the school’s science laboratories, upgrading equipment and refurbishing student work stations.

Principal Patricia Fleming said the grant “will significantly enhance science instruction” in advanced- placement biology and chemistry.

“All of us at Ursuline are grateful beyond measure to members of the Cafaro Family and to the Cafaro Foundation for their ongoing commitment to Catholic education,” she said.

Many members of the Cafaro family are Ursuline alumni and have remained involved in supporting its mission. In 2008, the foundation awarded $1 million to Ursuline’s Centennial Capital Campaign.

The Cafaro Foundation is a charitable entity established by the Cafaro family in memory of William M. Cafaro, the founder of the real-estate development and management company that bears his name in Youngstown.
