“The Hobbit,SDRq directed by Jim Canacci, Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, auditions at 4:30 p.m. today. Young men and women age 8 to 18 are needed. Casting is not based on gender. All roles open except Gandalf. Auditionees should bring a current photograph and be prepared to read from a script. Be aware of any scheduling conflicts for evenings in March and April; rehearsals will be weekdays after school. Young people interested in working on the production team or learning stage managing, set building and light and sound-board operating also are welcome. “Legally Blonde,SDRq Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, auditions at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Director is Bernie Appugliese, and choreographers are Appugliese and Kayla Boye. Rehearsals begin at the end of March. Performances will be May 10-19. Auditionees will be asked to sing a prepared song and participate in a short choreographed segment. A pianist will be on hand to play for singers, and songs from the score are permitted. All roles are open. The production team also is looking for performers who have special skills or experience with gymnastics, cheerleading, skateboarding and in-line skating. For information, call 330-788-8739.

“Twelve Angry Men,SDRq Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., Salem, auditions at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Director Terri Wilkes is looking for adult male actors age 21 and older for all roles. Auditionees will read from the script, interact with others, and demonstrate the ability to assume and retain a strong character. Rehearsal dates will be announced at auditions. Show dates are Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday, May 17-25; no show May 26, with the likelihood of a Student Outreach performance on the morning of May 22. For information, call 330-332-6988.

“The Fantasticks,SDRq Victorian Players, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, auditions at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Cast calls for seven men and one woman. Looking for men age 16 to 50 and a woman age 16 to 18. Rehearsals will begin in March, and performances will be May 3 to 19. Auditionees should be prepared to read from the script and sing a prepared song. No CD accompaniment is permitted. Accompanist will be provided. For information, call J.E. “The Rainmaker,” directed by Sam Luptak Jr., Victorian Players, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, auditions at 2 p.m. March 16 and 7 p.m. March 18. The Encore Shop in Liberty is looking for Models for a fashion show May 11 at the Women’s Trade Show at the Eastwood Expo Center, 111 Eastwood Mall Blvd, Niles. Casting call is 2 to 4 p.m. March 9 at The Encore Shop, 4427 Logan Way, Youngstown. Needed are women age 13 and older that can fit sizes 0 to 5X. The 30 finalists will receive goodie bags.
