Walterses mark 50th milepost in their marriage

GIRARD

Phyllis and James Walters of Girard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 29.

The couple have three children, Robin (Andrew) Friend of Newport News, Va.; James Walters (Patti Hoover) of Ijamsville, Md.; and Kerry Gates (Jeff Watts) of Vienna. They also have 12 grandchildren.

The former Phyllis Hobbs and Mr. Walters were married June 29, 1963, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald.

Mrs. Walters retired in 2003 as an IRA-CD clerk for Second National Bank in Warren. She is a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

Mr. Walters, who retired in 2002, worked for United Foundries in Youngstown as a title molder and machine operator, then worked three years in security for Delphi. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served for four years.
