v Harry Stevens Hot Dog Day, 1 to 8 p.m.: Spend the day commemorating Niles native Harry Stevens, the inventor of the hot dog, baseball scorecard and drinking straw. Events include a parade, hot dog dressing contest, music and more. The free festival is on Main Street, downtown Niles.

v Back to the ’50s Weekend, 9 a.m.: This 1950s festival features hot rods, family fun and a Beatles tribute band at 3 p.m. It’s in Cascade Park in New Castle, Pa.

“BET Awards 2013” (8 p.m., BET): Chris Tucker is our host for the “BET Awards 2013,” which celebrates achievements in music, acting and sports. Performers include Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Nicki Minaj and Justin Timberlake.

“Masterpiece Mystery!” (9 p.m., PBS): “Masterpiece Mystery!” continues with the further exploits of “Inspector Lewis.” The latest episode has Lewis and Hathaway (Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox) investigating the brutal murder of a chemistry professor who had been just released from prison.

“Dexter” (9 p.m., Showtime): Prime time’s favorite serial killer (Michael C. Hall) enters his eighth and final season and something’s got to give. Will he finally get caught? Will he confess? Will he die? Oh, so many questions. The opener picks up six months after Dexter’s sister, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), killed LaGuerta to protect his murderous secret. Now, she’s an emotional wreck, and he’s feeling responsible.

“Ray Donovan” (10 p.m., Showtime): In the riveting new drama, “Ray Donovan,” Liev Schreiber delivers an Emmy-worthy performance as a cool, swaggering Hollywood “fixer” who cleans up the messy scandals of his celebrity clients. The stellar cast also includes Jon Voight and Elliott Gould.

‘Sock Hops’ show to benefit mission

The 34west Theater Company will present a dinner-theater production of “Sock Hops and Soda Pops” at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St., on July 12 as a benefit event to support the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the buffet will begin at 6:30, followed by the show.

“Sock Hops” is a lively musical that is both nostalgic and contemporary.

To reserve seats, call the Rescue Mission weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 330-744-5485.

Tickets are $50 per person and include dinner, dessert and the show.
