Colts safety Lefeged arrested on gun charge
WASHINGTON
Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested early Saturday after officers found a semi-automatic pistol in the car he was riding in, police said.
Lefeged was a front-seat passenger in a Chevy Camaro that fled a traffic stop for speeding in northeast Washington just after midnight.
Officers smelled marijuana in the car and found a plastic bottle of vodka and orange juice in the center console and a semi-automatic pistol under the front passenger seat, police documents show.
A receipt and purchase paperwork showed Lefeged bought the gun this year for about $900, police said.
Thursday’s NBA draft draws well for ESPN
NEW YORK
The NBA draft had its second-largest audience ever on ESPN.
The network says Thursday’s event was watched by more than 2.9 million viewers.
The only draft on ESPN that drew more was in 2011, when there were 3.2 million.
Despite being considered a lackluster class, the draft also scored a 2.4 rating, up 9 percent from last season and tied for the second-highest ever on ESPN.
Mayhem marks start of 100th Tour de France
BASTIA, Corsica
Riders at the Tour de France know to expect the unexpected. But nothing could have prepared them for the mayhem that turned Saturday’s first stage of the 100th Tour into a demolition derby on two wheels.
Seemingly for the first time at the 110-year-old race, one of the big buses that carry the teams around France when they’re not on their bikes got stuck at the finish line, literally wedged under scaffolding, unable to move.
The timing couldn’t have been worse: The blockage happened as the speeding peloton was racing for home, less than 12 miles out. Fearing the worst — a possible collision between 198 riders and the bus — race organizers took the split-second decision to shorten the race.

America’s Cup gets Coast Guard permit
SAN FRANCISCO
The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a Marine Event Permit to America’s Cup officials to conduct racing on San Francisco Bay this summer.
The competition begins with the opening race of the Louis Vuitton Cup for challengers between Emirates Team New Zealand and Italy’s Luna Rossa on July 7.
The Marine Event Permit issued Friday requires the implementation of a safety plan that incorporates the 37 safety recommendations made by the regatta director Iain Murray after an Artemis Racing crewman was killed in a capsize on May 9.
